Biographical History

The fonds describes the social and economic life of the Jewish community of Luxembourg in the years of the German occupation. The majority of Jews emigrated after the invasion of the German Wehrmacht in May 1940 to France. The staying members of the Jewish community in Luxembourg were deported from the summer of 1942 from the camp Fünfbrunnen or from Luxembourg City to Theresienstadt and to the extermination camps in Poland.

The fonds Consistoire Israélite is available as a copy in the Documentation and Research Centre on the Resistance in Luxembourg. The holdings of this institution have been transferred to the National Archives of Luxembourg.
