Texts of the tapes of the interview held by Willem Sassen with Eichmann in Argentina, Part Three, 1956-1957 Pages 363-525; [Note:] Willem Sassen, who was half-Dutch and half-German in origin, served in the Waffen-SS and later in the Nazi Party propaganda department; he was put on trial [?] in absentia in Belgium; he left Belgium and arrived to Argentina in September 1948, while using the false name Jacobus Janssen; he integrated himself inside the circles of former SS men who resided in Buenos Aires; he worked in Argentina as an editor of the German language "Der Weg" newspaper that served the community of German emigres; Sassen had close acquaintance with SS men [who had fled to and resided] in Argentina, and it was Sassen who had enabled the meeting of Mengele and Eichmann; Sassen obtained Eichmann's trust and proposed to Eichmann that he participate in the editing of a history of the Final Solution, from the German point of view; during 1955-1956, Sassen taped Eichmann regarding Eichmann's life experiences; Sassen's edited texts did not entirely reflect what Eichmann had dictated to him; Eichmann was dissatisfied with Sassen's edit and he instructed Sassen to use only the excerpts that Eichmann approved; Sassen showed himself to be an untrustworthy partner and did not follow Eichmann's instructions; Sassen's final text of the interviews [eventually] reached the Prosecution in the Eichmann Trial.
