Documentation of the Commissioner for the Four Year Plan (Beauftragter fuer den Vierjahresplan), Germany, 1933-1945 The Four Year Plan is an economic plan, that began in 1936, and that was meant to prepare Germany for war. Hermann Goering was appointed to head the program. The monitoring of the economy in the Third Reich before the war was not absolute and the objectives of the program were only partially achieved, due to, among others, lack of coordination between the supervisors in the various fields. At the beginning of the war, the German economy became more centralized and the responsibility for economic planning was transferred to Albert Speer, 1942. The Collection: The majority of the documents relate to the economic policies of the Nazis within the Reich and the occupied territories, and in the import field. Some of the documents relate to the policies regarding Jews. File JM/17458 includes documentation of the Central (Zentrale) Office; File JM/17460 includes documentation of the Reich Research Council (Reichsforschungsrat); File JM/19128 includes documentation of the Reich Commissioner for Price Setting (Reichskommisar fuer die Preisbildung); Files JM/17459 and JM/19127 include documentation of the Commercial Food Department (Geschaeftsgruppe Ernaehrung).
