TR.20- Documentation of trials conducted against war criminals submitted by the United States Department of Justice The Record Group is comprised of microfilms that contain documentation of trials against war criminals and collaborators conducted by American courts in the US Occupation Zone in Germany. The original material is preserved in the United States National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), and the copies were given to Yad Vashem by the United States Department of Justice. Among the trials included in the Record Group (In File No. O300/203, there is a detailed entry of material pertaining to three trials): The Dachau Concentration Camp Case - Microfilm 10046-10051 (Entry of the material is found in the Record Group file in the Archive storage area) 40 camp officials were put on trial at the main trial. 36 of the defendants were sentenced to death on 13 December 1945. Of these defendants, 23 were hanged on 28 and 29 May 1946, including the former commandant Martin Gottfried Weiss, and the camp physician Claus Schilling. Smaller groups of officials and camp guards were included in a number of successive trials. On 21 November 1946 it was reported that as of that date 116 defendants had been found guilty and sentenced to prison terms. The Muehldorf Ring Case - Microfilm 10052-10053 (Entry of the material is found in the Record Group file in the Archive storage area) On 13 May 1947 the American War Crimes Tribunal that was convened in Dachau sentenced five camp officials to death, and seven to prison terms. The Nordhausen Concentration Camp Case- Microfilm 10030-10045 (Entry of the material is found in the Record Group file in the Archive storage area) On 07 August 1947 the American Court found 15 SS guards and Kapos guilty; one was executed. Georg Johannes Rickhey, who was responsible for the production of the V rockets in the Dora camp, and was extradited to the United States to assist in the development of rockets there, and the camp physician, Heinrich Schmidt, were among those tried. On 30 December 1947, they were both found not guilty due to lack of evidence. Five trials of collaborators with the Nazis (Karl Linnes, Vladimir Osidach, Paliciankas, Shellang and Lehmann) are on Microfilms 3637-3643.
