Occupation of Hungary, 19 March 1944; anti-Jewish legislation, including the yellow badge, the prohibition against possession of a radio set, shopping at set times, prohibition against frequenting public places, dismissals from work and more; expulsion order from the family apartment; transfer with other Jews to houses in Budapest marked with a Jewish star; occupation by Arrow Cross men of the apartments the Jews were forced to leave; life in the marked houses; receiving necessary items from their Christian friend, Böske Bátky; increase in the air-raids on Budapest; attempts by the Jews to obtain protective passports from the embassies of the neutral countries; order to leave their houses with only necessities; deportation to the Budapest Ghetto, 28 November 1944; ghetto life; liberation by the Red Army, January 1945. Return home. Note: Sándorné Kovács had two sisters and three brothers who perished n the Holocaust. Her brother Gyula Erdős perished in a brick factory in Óbuda, and her brother Emil Erdős was a Zionist leader in Kikinda.
