Announcements to the population issued by Rumkowski in the Lodz Ghetto: Announcement Number 187, dated 28 December 1940 regarding the distribution of Hanukkah Gelt [a money gift to mark the holiday] to all welfare recipients and to those workers who earn up to 90 Mark The cost to the Altestenrat treasury is 450,000 Mark; Rumkowski makes this distribution in order to provide relief for the inhabitants; Rumkowski announces that he will continue to concern himself regarding employment and food for the ghetto residents in the future; announcement regarding the silencing of all the agitators.
