Announcements to the population issued by Rumkowski in the Lodz Ghetto: Announcement Number 143, dated 16 October 1940, with the order that removal of garbage and excrement is to be done only by workers from the Economic Department Removal of garbage and excrement from houses and courtyards is to be done only by workers from the Economic Department using carts of various types, and in return for fixed payment; the house committees and house administrators must see to it that this work is done only by those so authorized.
