Letters sent to Matilde Bassani by her mother Lavinia Bassani and her grandfather during the period Matilde was in detention in Ferrara; letter from Matilde in response, 19-24 June 1943 - On 11 June 1943 Matilde was detained in the prison in Ferrara with comrades in her activities following their being charged with subversive activities against the regime. She remained in detention until the deposition of Benito Mussolini, 25 July 1943.
