Letters written by Lavinia Limentani (the Widow Bassani) to her daughter Matilde Bassani who was in detention in the prison in Ferrara; letter from Matilde to her mother in response, 17 June 1943 - On 11 June 1943 Matilde was arrested with comrades in her activities following their being charged with subversive activities against the regime. She was held under arrest in the prison in Ferrara, where she remained under detention until the deposition of Benito Mussolini, 25 July 1943.
