Certificate received by Fira Rabovskaya, born in Bragin, Belorussia, 1925, on completion of her accountancy studies, 19 February 1944 Notes from Fira Rabovskaya who submitted the material: Fira Rabovskaya was born in Bragin, in the Gomel region of Belorussia, 12 December 1924 [or 1925]. Her parents were Welka and Chaya Rabovski. She had two brothers and a sister: Avraham, born in 1915, Bronia, born in 1923 and Michael, born in 1927. The family lived in Bragin until July 1941. Her oldest brother (Avraham) volunteered to serve in the Red Army and fell in battle near Kursk. The rest of the family members escaped and arrived in Kazakhstan; there was a Jewish leader in Bragin who organized the escape. The route to Kazakhstan took approximately six months and the family encountered many hardships. They arrived in Ukraine where they were loaded on cattle cars and they travelled for approximately a month and a half. The train was bombed from the air and the passengers were forced to jump out and continue on foot. A cart ran over her father during the escape and he was injured. The members of the family arrived at a kolkhoz in Kazakhstan. Fira completed her accountancy studies in Karaganda in 1944. In late 1944, she returned to Belorussia and discovered that the family home had been destroyed. She married and went to live in Yevpatoria, Crimea. She made aliya to Israel in 1991.
