Notes from Naomi Biederman who submitted the material: Josef and Erika Sidon managed to escape from Vienna in 1938. They arrived in Italy where they hid for eleven months. In 1939 they made illegal aliya to Eretz Israel. Erika's family (the Friedmann's) made aliya to Eretz Israel over the years 1939-1941. Josef Sidon's sister Elsa perished in the Holocaust; his three brothers emigrated to Bolivia, Argentina and Eretz Israel during the years 1939-1941.
