Personal documentation belonging to Joachim Friedler, born in Skole, Poland, 15 October 1874, and his son, Hugo, born in Skole, Poland, 1908, afterwards residents of Leoben, Austria; correspondence of Hugo Friedland concerning his efforts to obtain a certificate for legal aliya to Eretz Israel and his autobigraphy from that time, 1939 The documentation includes: - Certificates testifying to the fact that Joachim Friedler is a resident of Leoben and belongs to the local community, 1938; - Permits issued by the Merchants Association in Leoben allowing Joachim Friedler and his son, Hugo Friedler, to engage in commerce, July 1938; - "Trauer-Album" (Memory Album) in memory of Joachim Friedler, who passed away 15 May 1939, including various prayers in memory of the dead; - Document issued by the Tax Authority in Leoben certifying that Hugo Friedler has no tax debts, 12 September 1938; - Austrian Zionist Organization membership card in the name of Hugo Friedler issued 01 October 1938; - Hamedina Haivrit (the Hebrew State) party in Austria membership card, 13 March 1936; - Correspondence between Hugo Friedler and Zionist organizations in Vienna and the Heinrich Schlie travel agency regarding obtaining a certificate for legal aliya to Eretz Israel and and his arrival in Eretz Israel (nine letters), 1939; - Hugo Friedler's autobiography, written in Vienna, while attempting to obtain a certificate for legal aliya to Eretz Israel. Note: Hugo Friedler was active in sports organizations in Vienna, and in 1939 he obtained a certificate for legal aliya to Eretz Israel. He transfered the certificate to another Jewish family. At the last minute he managed to obtain a certificate for himself and his wife, Gertrud (Kreizler) Friedler, born in 1918; they made aliya to Eretz Israel, late 1939.
