Note: Dr. Arie Leo Goldhammer Zahavi was 11 years old when Herzl's book, "The Jewish State", was published. A few years later, Goldhammer became one of the founders of the "Theodor Herzl Club" in Vienna, established after the death of the visionary of the Zionist movement. Together with Borochov, Goldhammer established the World Union of Poalei Zion, and he served as the head of the Zionist Organization in Austria for many years. In 1939 he made aliya to Eretz Israel, and during the war all the Zionist activity was concentrated under his direction, especially regarding the various funds and aliya. He wrote essays on historical matters and statistics. His statisitical book, "The Jews of Vienna" was widely publicized.
