Documentation of the Verband der juedischen Kaufleute und Gewerbetreibende (Association of Jewish Merchants and Tradespeople) in Vienna from the Osoby Archive in Moscow, 1928-1935 In the collection there is mainly Verband correspondence and circulars from 1928-1935, including internal Verband correspondence with its members (and candidates for membership), along with much information regarding the possibilities for commercial connections abroad, and correspondence with outside bodies on various matters, such as guidelines to the Verband members on various businesses, correspondence with government offices and the Vienna Municipal Council, lawyers on judicial matters and so on. One of the files (Scans 1767-1829) deals with Eretz Israel, commercial activities and possibilities of travel there (contacts with Eretz Israel are mentioned in other files, including correspondence with the Association of Olim from Central Europe regarding cooperation with it. Additionally, there is much material regarding the Yerid Hamizrach (Eastern Fair), a commercial fair held in Tel Aviv). Additionally, in the file there are a number of publications and periodicals dealing with commerce and the Austrian economy. Also included in the collection are Verband protocols, preserved in two files: - Protocols of meetings of the Verband administration, 21 March 1929-17 September 1931, as well as a report on the organization's activities in May 1935 (Scans 1099-1155); - Protocols of Verband meetings ,October 1934-October 1935, including meetings of the organization administration, the administration of the Verband branches in the various Bezirke (Quarters), meetings between the organization administration and representatives of the Bezirke and meetings with other organizations (Scans 1158-1244).
