M.52.DAChrkO - Documentation from the State Archives of the Cherkasy Region History of the Archives The Archive was first established in Cherkasy in April 1919; it was called the Regional Archive of Cherkasy in 1925. The name of the Archive was changed to the State Historical Archive of Cherkasy in 1932 and it became a branch of the State Archive of the Kiev Region in 1941. During World War II much of the documentation in the Archive was damaged. Following the establishment of the Cherkassy region in 1954, the name of the Archive was changed to the State Archive of the Cherkassy Region. A branch of the regional Ministry of the Interior was created in the Archive as well as the Archive of the Communist Party in the Cherkassy region. This Sub-Record Group includes documentation of the Soviet Extraordinary State Commission, regarding the persecution and murder of Jews in Sukhoy Yar and regarding the number of people who perished in Uman, 1944-1945; documentation regarding the persecution and murder of residents in the Zolotonosha district, including Jews; murder of Jews during 19-22 September 1941 and 02 November 1941; murder of residents of the Zolotonosha district during 25-31 July 1942, and murder of disabled people, 27 March 1943; lists of people who perished; information regarding the number of people in the district who perished, 14 December 1944; names of Nazi war criminals and Ukrainian collaborators; list of residents of the city and the district who were murdered during 20 September 1941-20 September 1943; lists of residents who were murdered; lists of Jews; lists of Ukrainian collaborators; documentation of the Communist Party regional committee regarding the activities of partisans and underground members in the Cherkassy region, and lists of partisans and underground members.
