Biographical History

(Černá Hora, Morvao., 1811. máj. 23. – Szeged, 1875. okt. 13.): zsidó teológus és író. ~ Immánuel apja. 1840-től 1846-ig Nagykanizsán – ahol isk.-t és iparostanulóisk.-t alapított -, 1846-tól 1850-ig Pápán, 1850-től Szegeden volt rabbi. A szabadságharcban mint tábori lelkész vett részt, amiért rövid ideig tartó fogházbüntetést szenvedett. 1859 – 68-ban szerk. a Ben Chananja c. német nyelvű zsidó tudományos folyóiratot. Elsőként kutatta a m. zsidóság történetét, s az első, aki zsinagógában magyarul beszélt. – F. m.
