Biographical History

A Jewish community in Hodonín is documented from the beginning of the 17th century. In 1774 Jews were expelled from the town, and in 1782 only thirteen families were allowed to return. The Jewish population greatly increased in size from the mid-19th century onwards. The community was disbanded during the Nazi occupation. It was re-established after the Second World War and later affiliated to the Jewish Religious Community of Brno.

This fonds contains the community's statutes (1921–1922, 1930), meeting minutes (kept until 1940), financial files, a contract for the construction of a new synagogue (1694), synagogue seats records, and burial society records.
