    The Institute took care of refugees from Czechoslovak territories occupied by Nazi in 1938 and also of those people (mostly foreigners) who were fleeing before Nacism from 1933. The Institute helped with finding a temporary accomodation, food and medical care. It also provided financial help and tried to integrate refugees in the society again.

  5. Steinerová, Hana (* 27.4.1894)

    Born 1894. Died 1944 in Auschwitz. Dedicated Zionist and social worker. One of the leading possition in Prague branch of HICEM, helped hundreds of Jewish refugees. Worked for the Jewish Community in Prague, in charge of the Department for Emigration. Deported to Terezín in July 1943. Transported to Auschwitz in October 1944.
