The beginning of the creation of the archive in the city of Taganrog dates back to June 2, 1923, when the archive commission was created, transformed from June 1, 1925 into the archive bureau, from August 1930 into the archive department, from September 1943 to the Taganrog branch of the State archive of the Rostov region.
Geographical and Cultural Context
The main goal of the branch is to ensure the eternal storage of archival documents depicting the history of the city of Taganrog and providing everyone who is interested in this with information on the economic, social, cultural aspects of the city’s history from 1920 to 2011. The branch stores 746 funds, which include cases for the period from 1920 to 2011 in the amount of 141367 files.
