History

The Voivodship State Archive in Koszalin was created in 1961. In 1984 it was renamed and became the State Archive in Koszalin.

Mandates/Sources of Authority

Nowadays. The State Archive in Koszalin works on the ground of the Act on National Archival Records and Archives of July 14, 1983, Journal of Law, (Dziennik Ustaw) No 38, 1983.07.19 with later changes.

Archival and Other Holdings

The State Archive in Koszalin possesses 859 collections and archival founds, which makes over 162000 units and 2300 running metres.The oldest documents originate from the half of 16th century. There are two main categories of documents: German (1555-1945) and Polish (after 1945). Among German collections there are records of Regierung Koeslin and counties (Landratamt) in Bytów, Człuchów, Złotów, and Wałcz, records of 115 registry offices, judiciary documents and towns records. Polish collection contains records of state and local administration, financial institutions, records of local committees of Polish Communist Party (PZPR).

Opening Times

The State Archive's holdings are available in the workroom open Monday - Tuesday 8.00 - 18.00 and Wednesday - Friday 8.00 - 15.00.

Conditions of Access

The access is regulated by Instruction No. 4 of the Head office of State Archives in Poland, dated February 1, 2013.
