Geographical and Cultural Context

The Brabant Historical Information Center (BHIC) operates in the province of North Brabant, and in particular 17 municipalities and 2 water boards (Aa and Maas, De Dommel).

Archival and Other Holdings

The Brabant Historical Information Center (BHIC) manages over 1,500 archives and collections (almost 30 km of paper and parchment); helps not only individuals but also organizations, institutions, municipalities, provincial institutions with all their questions in the field of archives and cultural; is the main center for genealogy in Brabant; is the main center for the history of Brabant; is the main center for local history in northeastern North Brabant (blue municipalities).

Finding Aids, Guides, and Publication

There are two search engines to be found on the website of the Brabant Historical Information Center (BHIC). One engine for information on individual persons and one on the archives. Both can be found here. Moreover, three subdivisions have been made in each search engine. For the search engine regarding individual persons these subdivisions are: criminal ancestors which enables you to search in criminal judgments; persons in notarial records; and ancestors in the Netherlands. For the search engine regarding the archives these subdivisions are: books and journals from the library; maps and drawings; and building plans.

Opening Times

The Brabant Historical Information Center (BHIC) is open from Tuesday to Friday from 9am to 4pm and every first Saturday of the month from 9am to 4pm.

The Brabant Historical Information Center (BHIC) has its own parking lot.
