The Archives were founded by decree on the 28th of February 1941.

Holocaust-related archival holdings are primary the two fonds "Prefettura" and "Questura", where personal files of the Jewish population living in the territory of the province can be found.

Institute's opening times: Monday-Wednesday-Friday, 8.00-15.00; Tuesday-Thursday, 8.00-18.00.

Si tratta di un fondo lacunoso perché gli uffici furono sede delle truppe d'occupazione durante il secondo conflitto mondiale. La schedatura eseguita all'atto del versamento ha ricostruito il titolario in uso tra il 1920 ed il 1950 ed ha ricondotto ai criteri originali di ordinamento la documentazione pervenuta.
