    Photographs, documents, poetry, audio recordings illustrating Felice Rubinstein Korn's experiences in pre war Poland and post war Munich, Germany. Included are materials illustrating Felice's education in Munich, post-war, displace persons identification cards, and diploma or certificate that Felice has completed education and qualifies as a pharmacist. Felice, born in Radom, in 1924, was interned in the Radom Ghetto, then deported to Majdanek and Plaszow concentration camps in Poland.

Photos document friends and family in pre-war and post-war Łódź, as well as in Lenger-Ugol, Kazakhstan during the war; Maccabi Sports Club membership card issued to Franka Kempinski, November 28, 1946, Łódź, Poland.

  12. SS training at shooting range at Hebertshausen, near Dachau

    Onscreen title reads: "Das Kleinkaliberschiessen" [small caliber shooting]. Several SS men train at a shooting range, built specially for the SS in 1937, at Hebertshausen, near Dachau. The men confer, shoot at targets, and inspect their weapons. Approximately four thousand Soviet prisoners of war were shot at this location between 1941 and the end of the war.

    The collection consists of a passport case, correspondence, and documents relating to the experiences of Eugen Lilienthal during the Holocaust when he was imprisoned in Theresienstadt ghetto-labor camp and, after the Holocaust, from Deggendorf displaced persons camp, as well as documents related to the emigration of Max and Margo Fraenkel from Germany to the United States prior to the war. Some of these materials may be combined into a single collection in the future.

    Portrait of Marianne and Josef Schömann, parents of three daughters who immigrated to the United States from Germany before the war. Mr. and Mrs. Schömann managed to reach Holland; on October 30, 1942 they were arrested and taken to the Westerbork transit camp, and deported to the Auschwitz death camp on November 2, 1942.

    Half-Jewish athlete Helene Mayer fencing for Germany. Mayer was the only Jewish athlete who represented Germany, and she was allowed to do so only under the pressure of international opinion. She won a silver medal in the individual foil event and gave the Nazi salute from the podium. After the Olympics she returned to the United States, where she had been living. Schacherer-Elek, who won gold, and Preiss, who won bronze, were also part Jewish. Mayer is the tall blond fencer.
