  2. Gertrude Winter collection

    Gertrude Winter collection of drawings, documents, notebooks, correspondence. Gertrude Winter was born on February 28, 1905. She was a first-and second grade teacher for girls at the "Volksschule der Israelitischen Kultusgemeinde Wien," which was located in the Castellezgasse in Vienna. The school was closed in the summer of 1941. The content of the collection includes drawings, poems and essays. There are also nine notebooks with between 22-48 pages of writing. In addition there are 11 photographs of the students and teacher. Altogether 35 of the children can be identified by their names. ...

    Postcard written by Herman Joosten who was from Zaltbommel, Netherlands to his sister upon his imminent deportation to the Westerbork internment camp in The Netherlands. From there he was eventually deported to the Malapane slave labor camp in Poland. Additional documents, surrounding the Anholt and Joosten families, a cigar box and scrip.

  9. Harry Markowicz collection

    The Harry Markowicz photograph collection contains pre-war, wartime, and post-war photographs and copyprints of Harry Markowicz and his family in Widawa, Poland; Berlin, Germany; and Brussels, Belgium from 1920-1949. It also includes one framed hand-painted photograph of Harry Markowicz that was made after his family was reunited. It further includes a bracelet inscribed "Henri Vanderlinden" entrusted to Harry Markowicz immediately following the WWII by the family with whom he hid.
