  1. NSDAP – Local Groups of Břeclav

    The fonds contains sources primarily for the organisation NSDAP and its elements and related associations in Břeclav and Poštorná. The List of Inhabitants of Břeclav with data about nationality (Germans, Czechs, Slovaks, Bulgarians, Poles, Jews) and their membership in Nazi organisations in 1939 concerns the Jews.

    The collection consists of a photograph of David Kuperman [donor's brother] and Leibul Mendelman [donor's cousin] taken in Zgierz, Poland; a photograph of Moshe Pinches Leyzerowich [donor's maternal grandfather]; and a copy photograph of Jacob and Miriam Kuperman [donor's parents] and their children (David, Regina, Macheia, Molley, and Dina) taken in Zgierz, Poland.

  3. Irene Horn papers

    The papers document the experiences of Irene Horn (born Irena Szachter), originally of Bodzentyn, Poland, and her family immediately following WWII. The collection includes a composition book used by "Szachter Ira" containing notes on dentistry, a membership card issued by the Society of Jewish Sport Organisations and Center for Phisical Education of the Central Committee of Liberated Jews in the U.S. Occupied Zone of Germany for Abram Hirshenhorn, Irene's husband, in 1946, and twenty-nine family photographs

  4. Kimmel family collection

    Consists of post-war photographs dating from 1946-1956 of the Kimmel family, originally of Lvov, Poland. Included also are five copies of photograph strips and one postcard written on October 7, 1947 to Dr. Alfred Kimmel, who at that time was living in the Schlachtensee DP camp in Berlin, Germany. The photographs include portraits of individuals and of groups, and images of daily life in the displaced persons camp. Dr. Alfred Kimmel and his wife, Laura (Späth) Kimmel emigrated to the United States in 1949.

    50,000 Communists at Berlin May Day demonstration. The camera pans over a huge crowd, holding signs, banners, and flags. They sing the Internationale (?). A man speaks but the words are barely audible. He is shot from far back in the crowd and not identifiable. He is then shown closer up briefly, but then flags obscure half of his face. The camera pans over the crowds as they leave the demonstration. The audio (crowd noises) cuts out at 6:04. Police are shown dispersing and perhaps arresting people in the crowd. Slow pan of immense crowds with Berlin Cathedral in background.

  7. SS Presentation plate

    SS presentation plate made in the Allach porcelain factory. The plate was brought home from WWII by Dr. George Tilden Novinger, who worked in the Dachau concentration camp after liberation, and served in the US Army from February 1944 – March 1946. The Allach porcelain factory was one of the SS's first industrial enterprises, under the direct control of Heinrich Himmler. The factories were sub-camps of Dachau concentration camp, with camp inmates supplying the forced labor.

The excerpted transcript summarizes the indictments against each defendant and ultimately, the judgement and sentence; in English. Frank Morse (donor's grandfather) was an attorney and former Minnesota judge who served as a lawyer working with the United States Army during the Nuremberg War Crimes Trials in 1945 and 1946

  13. FDR awards warship to Norway

    Part 1, a warship, the Haakon VII, is presented to Princess Martha of Norway by FDR. Newsreel footage also includes the following parts: Part 2, shows tests of Lee tanks. Part 3, President Camacho reviews a Liberty Day parade in Mexico City. Part 4, an automobile plant is converted to war production. Shows other war goods being made. Part 5, Nelson Rockefeller and President Vargas ratify a trade agreement in Rio de Janeiro. Part 6, shows a mock airborne attack.

  14. Sarah Zyberstajn Zepkovicz collection

    Collection of prewar tax certificates paid by Sarah Zepkovicz to the Jewish Community as a member of the Zionist organization Poale Zion. Includes an membership card for "Poalai Zion" (Poale Zion) for Sarah Zepkovicz, and several promissory notes and other related documents from Yehuda Arye Zilberstajn to Mr. Zybershatz in Palestine stating that upon his arrival to Palestine he would work for him for one year. Mr. Ziblerstajn never made it to Palestine and perished in the Holocaust. Statement in Yiddish by Sarah Zyberstajn Zepkovicz "What it meant to be a Halutz (Pioneer)."

    Contains two black and white photographs from a Christmas party in Bamberg, Germany, and six black and white signal corp photographs of organized calisthenics in the Wetzlar Displaced persons camp, the 4th Armored division's area at Regensburg, Germany, and views of the Jagerskasserne in Wuerzburger Str. in Aschaffenburg, Germany. The Jagerskasserne was occupied by displaced persons in the former 313th Infantry Regiment area of the 79th Infantry division.
