    In 1943 werd er door de NSB een poging gedaan tot herindeling van Schouwen-Duiveland. Deze gemeentelijke herindeling is niet doorgegaan. Vanaf maart 1944 werd Schouwen-Duiveland door de Duitse bezetter onder water gezet om een invasie door de geallieerden te bemoeilijken. Als gevolg hiervan werd het overgrote deel van de bevolking geëvacueerd. Het archief bevat de neerslag van taken en activiteiten van de gemeente Zierikzee in de periode 1940-1995.     The Ministry of Industry (Iparügyi Minisztérium) was established in 1935 and partially replaced the Ministry of Trade (Kereskedelemügyi Minisztérium) that had just been abolished. The Ministry of Industry was in operation between August 1, 1935 and April 4, 1945. During the last months of the Second World War and Arrow Cross rule, it no longer functioned on a regular basis. Unfortunately, the actual materials of the Ministry of Industry were destroyed during the battle for Budapest in the winter of 1944-1945. A maternity hospital and Kinderheim was established by the Volkswagen corporation in Rühen, Germany, in March 1943 for children born to Polish and Russian forced laborers working at the VW factory in Wolfsburg.     The John Krasny photograph collection consists of eight photographs given to John Krasny by Steve, a fellow member of the counterintelligence unit of the United States Army. Steve [last name unknown] retrieved them from an unidentified German soldier. The photographs are images of Stalag XI D/321 camp for Soviet POWs in Oerbke, Germany, November 1941-Febraury 1942. The POWs were captured during the Operation Barbarossa in June 1941. Between November 1941 and February 1942, approximately 50,000 Soviet POWs died of starvation, hypothermia, and disease in the camp.
