    The German invasion of Norway, which happened on April 9, 1940, simultaneous with the invasion of Denmark. The Norwegians offered much more resistance than the Danes, and they did not capitulate until May 9. Airplanes in the air. Interior of the plane with German soldiers, smiling and talking.     The collection consists of a pin, correspondence, documents, photographs, and published materials relating to the experiences of the Bondy, Feldman, Kafka, and Loewenbach families.

  6. Lindley Pugh collection

    Consists of twelve photographs taken by Lindley Pugh after the liberation of the Dachau concentration camp, including photographs of arrested German perpetrators, the aftermath of summary justice, and photographs of convoys of German civilians fleeing the front. Includes one photograph of Lindley Pugh outside his quarters near the Dachau camp and one photograph of soldiers enjoying a Bob Hope show. Also includes one DVD of Mr. Pugh speaking about his experiences to his granddaughters' middle school class.

    The Hapag-Lloyd collection consists of a published map and cabin plan of the MS St. Louis, February 1937, and a copy print of a black and white photograph of the MS St. Louis.

  9. Marx family papers

    Comprised of documents, newspaper clippings, and correspondence that illustrate the experiences of Kurt Marx, the donor's father, who fled Frankfurt, Germany in 1938. Correspondence includes letters from Kurt's mother, Amalie, who was unable to leave and did not survive. Also included are documents and correspondence capturing Kurt's efforts to assist Amalie in emigration, but to no avail, in addition to a notebook labeled by Amalie [Marxsohn] and inscribed by Kurt.

    Print reproduction of a sketch, from a set of fifteen, depicting guards watching a group of prisoners, during an abusive exercise period, on their hands and knees being attacked and punished by Kapos and dogs at Natzweiler-Struthof concentration camp in France, and published in 1946. A few of the prisoners are identified with NN (Nacht und Nebel [night and fog]) on their uniforms.     Glass slides (8), containing photographic images of scenes in a liberated concentration camp, depicting liberated prisoners in barracks, United States military personnel, and corpses of victims. One image shows a former prisoner with a United States soldier, pointing toward an oven, and another shows an American soldier addressing a group of civilians, presumably German, standing in front of a crematorium. The provenance of these images is unknown.
