    Het archief van de Dienst voor Economische Recuperatie en diens rechtsvoorganger, de Dienst voor Identificering en Vereffening, vormt een uiterst waardevol en rijk bestand voor de socio-economische geschiedenis van de bezetting en vooral van de naoorlogse periode.     Het archief bevat correspondentie, verslagen, circulaires betreffende de werkwijze, getuigenverhoren, gegevens over deportaties, aangiftes van overlijden van vermiste, meest Joodse personen en documentatie over de Duitse concentratiekampen. Naast een "Centraal register van akten van overlijden van vermisten" zijn er nadere toegangen op naam via klappers en kaartsystemen. De VP-dossiers bevinden zich in archief Justitie / Vermiste personen (archiefinventaris 2.09.34.02).

    Het eerste deel van het archief omvat stukken betreffende de interneringsdepots Harderwijk en Wierickerschans in de periode 1918-1921. Een aantal is gewijd aan twee beroemde ballingen: keizer Wilhelm II en zijn zoon. Verder zijn er registers en klappers betreffende de geïnterneerden. Het tweede deel betreft verschillende opvanglocaties (onder andere Nieuwersluis, Honswijk, Vlieland, Hoek van Holland, Amsterdam) in de periode 1936-1940 en verschillende nationaliteiten (Spanjaarden, Duitsers).
