    People of all ages stand on the steps outside of Choral Synagogue in Moscow, located at Bolshoy Spasoglinishchevskiy lane, 10, during the High Holidays. Multiple people wear the tallit. A man using crutches moves down the front steps of the building, unable to use the lower part of his right leg. People move out of the synagogue, men put out their hands, begging for money and some give. Includes materials related to the emigration of Willy and Else (nee Behr) Maerker, and their children, Gerhard and Inge, from Germany, to escape anti-Semitic persecution, in 1938.

There are no related files to the register, but the information on the cards is quite unique. This collection contains the most detailed and systematic overview of Danish refugees in Sweden.

    The collection primarily contains correspondence sent to and from Benjamin Buchsbaum, of Philadelphia, relating to his efforts to rescue relatives, friends, and strangers from Nazi-occupied Europe and bring them to the United States. Correspondence is often from those he sought to help, as well as others who recognized his efforts, and dates from the period of the Holocaust up through the 1960s.     Consists of Bencelis Gorodiscas's passport from Lithuania, issued in 1921; the "livret de famille" family book documenting Bencelis's marriage to Malka Mendrzycka (originally of Warsaw) and the births of their children, Marguerite in 1933 and Gilbert in 1944. Also includes a certificate of liberation issued to Bencelis Gorodiscas from the Gurs internment camp in April 1943 and a bill for their immigration to the United States in 1961.
