The testimonies describe liberation experiences at various Nazi concentration camps throughout Europe at the end of World War II. Also included are letters from Miles Lerman and Elie Wiesel to the liberators describing the International Liberators Conference. Some of these materials may be combined into a single collection in the future.

Schwartz during his wartime service in the United States Army and after the war when he served as Area Director for the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration (UNRRA) from 1945 to 1948 and then as Area Director for the International Refugee Organization in Germany.
