    Film opens with VS of DPs at Camp Feldafing, in the winter of 1946. There is snow on the ground. LS of barracks/sleeping quarters. VMS of DPs, men and women, young men and women, and some children. Walking out of barracks, some smiling. MS of DPs in wooden bunks, some with somber expressions, others smiling, laughing, eating, sitting around tables playing cards, talking, doing laundry, children sit on the floor of barracks playing.   3. Persecution of Jewish children

    This is a short FICTION film. Soundtrack is music and 'wild sound'- no narration, no dialogue. The film begins with one of Hitler’s anti-Jewish speeches and is followed by a German military march. An ambulance with a Red Cross sign enters a gate leading to what looks like a school-yard surrounded by barbed wire. As a group of children play in the yard, an SS man fills the gas tank and connects an exhaust pipe to the “ambulance.” In the next scene the children climb into the truck along with their guardian, while a point-of-view shot from inside the ambulance focuses on a group of birds outs...

  4. Ernst "Putzi" Hanfstaengl

    Ernst "Putzi" Hanfstaengl was an early confidant of Hitler but fell increasingly out of favor after Hitler's assumption of power. In 1937 Hitler ordered Hanfstaengl to parachute over Spain and act as an agent for Franco in the Spanish Civil War. Hanfstaengl feared this was really a plot on his life and, in his telling, he convinced the plane's pilot to return to Germany. According to Albert Speer in his memoirs, this was all an elaborate practical joke and no harm was intended. However, Hanfstaengl was frightened enough to decide to defect.
