    1. Pre-1963 Correspondence

    The correspondence centres on the whereabouts of the Memorbuch of the Jewish community in Friedberg near Frankfurt am Main. Contained are letters of several other individuals involved in the item’s tracing process. Upon his passing the acquisition of parts of Bloch’s estate is briefly discussed.

    1. Pre-1963 Correspondence

    The correspondence centres on everyday issues, mainly the acquisition of books. Contained is also the copy of a certification of employment dates and salary of Bondy for his time at the Jewish Central Information Office (JCIO) in Amsterdam.

  5. Correspondence with Bund der Verfolgten des Naziregimes (BVN)

    1. Pre-1963 Correspondence

    Correspondence regarding historical subjects and political activities of the BVN. This includes among others the terms of access to German records in British archives, information about former Nazis and then West German officials Werner Naumann and Wilhelm Voss, the fate of Jewish refugees on the MS St. Louis liner, the conditions in Buchenwald concentration camp in the wake of the November Pogrom in 1938, and the controversial German-Jewish author and right-wing activist Josef Ginsburg (aka J. G. Burg).

  6. Correspondence with Alexander, Kurt

    1. Pre-1963 Correspondence

    The correspondence centres on a request to Alfred Wiener for a reference or introduction letter, with which Alexander hoped to boost his chances for a job in New York. Other addressed issues are: his salary at the Jewish Central Information Office or The Wiener Library respectively, the hiring of a third person at the United Restitution Organization, and a condolence note to his widow following his sudden passing. Contained is an undated résumé of Alexander’s as well as a letter to a third person named Lola Alexander.

    1. Pre-1963 Correspondence

    Comprising mainly notes and memos the correspondence centres on meetings with The Wiener Library’s project researcher Francis L. Carsten as well as a meeting with IfZ project researcher Hans Mommsen and a review of his work.

    This collection contains the personal papers of Erich and Fanny Walter (née Pilpel) and those of her father Emil Leon Pilpel and sister Charlotte Smith (née Pilpel).

    This collection comprises the papers of Michael and Charlotte Terfus, Jewish refugees from Berlin who fled Nazi persecution in March 1939.   17. George Vulkan collection

    The bulk of the collection consists of correspondence between Abraham and Amalie's children in England, Scotland and Austria, in particular letters to Marcel and his sister Regina (Regi). A major theme of the letters is the attempts to help the family members in Austria escape to Britain and the frustrations arising out of the difficulty of this. There are also materials on German, Austrian and Czechoslovakian refugees’ life in Britain in the 1940s, as well as notes and texts written by George Vulkan on his family history.

    This collection consists of the papers of the Toch and Korn families, Jewish refugees from Vienna. Whilst the children Erika and Harry Toch emigrated to England and Palestine, respectively to flee Nazi persecution, their parents Wilhelm and Margarethe Toch were deported to Theresienstadt concentration camp from where only their mother returned.
