    This collection consists of two surviving diaries of a British Jewish resident of Jersey, Channel Islands, whilst in internment camps first in Compiegne, France, and later Biberach, Germany. In addition to a daily account of life in the respective camps at Compiegne and Biberach, the diaries contain notes, addresses, recipes and draft letters.

    The main collection (items 1-1437) comprises Esther Simpson's personal papers, certificates, photographs, press-cuttings, miscellaneous documents, and correspondence to and from Esther Simpson, as received from her. Another large collection (15 boxes) of similar material from among her possessions, received after her death, remains unsorted and unlisted. Small collections received subsequently from other sources have been numbered - 1438-82, 1483-1501, 1502-33 - and are itemized in the handlist. The items date between 1918 and 1997.

    This collection consists of a copy jubilee album (translation from French) relating to the life and times of Estrea Aelion for her seven great-grandchildren in celebration of her hundredth birthday in May 1984, compiled by Jacqueline Golden. Estrea Aelion, of Greek Jewish origin, came to England in 1934.     It appears to be a copy extract from part of a chapter entitled Juden, which itself is part of an unidentified secret report for the attention of Einsatzgruppe A. It describes the situation of Jews in Eastern Europe and the measures taken/ to be taken to rid the region of them. It makes particular reference to Estonia and Belorussia.
