  12. Records relating to the race regulations of the French Gendarmes

    The collection contains documents from fonds 1A276 and 1A277 of the Service Historique de la Gendarmerie Nationale (SHGN) related to the regulations of October 1940, and June 1941, prohibiting service in the French National Gendarmes to persons of Jewish ancestry. Includes personnel files for individuals either attesting to Aryan status or requesting exemptions on the basis of exemplary service, heroism, etc.

  13. Anna Bloch collection

    Consists of a certificate issued on 14 June 1945 in Linz, Austria, to Israel Bloch, donor’s husband, stating that he was born on 18 September 1911 in Krakow, Poland, and was imprisoned in the Mauthausen concentration camp from 13 March 1942 until liberation on 5 May 1945; and a declaration of intention to become a citizen of the United States, filed by Israel Bloch on 28 March 1951, in Toledo, Ohio, on behalf of himself, his wife, Anna Bloch (the donor), and their daughter, Halina Bloch, born in Munich, Germany, on 30 May 1946.

    Consists of an album, "Paris les heures glorieuses" published by Comité parisien de la Libération, written by Claude Roy, published November 1945, and blank forms used in the fabrication of false identity papers. The forms include: 2 feuilles de demobilization, format different taille A-4, 1 certificat de recensement-A8, 1 bulletin de naissance, 1 carte d’identite orange, 1 carte de travail Mod. 3 pliee en 2, 1 carte de travail- Mod. 1, and 1 bulletin d’etat-civil.

  15. George Waldbaum collection

    Consists of a certificat d'hebergement, or lodging certificate, issued to Gerszon Waldbaum on 7 July 1942 in Pithiviers, France, transit camp; a military identification card issued on 7 November 1941, to Gerszon Waldbaum; and an Extrait de la feuile de demobilization or extract of demobilization of Gerszon Waldbaum from the French Foreign Legion, copy issued in Pithiviers,France, dated 13 September 1941.

  16. Ilona Foldes papers

    The Ilona Foldes papers consist of English and Hungarian versions of Foldes’ memoir, “The Unknown Destiny,” a postwar photograph of Ilona Foldes, a prewar photograph of her first husband, Arthur Révész, and three prewar and wartime photographs of their son, Paul Révész. The papers also include a clipping about the 1976 Hungarian film “Kísértet Lublón” (“Haunted Lublon” or “The Phantom on Horseback”) based on Mikszáth Kalman’s serial novel. The clipping was found among the photographs, and although its relationship with the photographs is unclear, it is considered part of the collection.

    Consists of two postcards sent by Mrs. Nandor Klein in Hungary to Charles Klein in a Hungarian labor camp in May 1944; and a one-Kröner denomination scrip from theTheresienstadt (Terezin) Ghetto.

  18. Mayer Zielinski collection

    Postcard written by Mayer Zielinski, who was in the Srodula Ghetto, on May 3, 1943 to his sisters, Edzia, Mania, and Sala Zielinski, who were in the Graben Labor Camp. The text contains a description of Mayer's life in the ghetto, including the work he was forced to do and his efforts to find food.

  19. Iancu family photographs

    Consists of one photograph, dated 1930, of the donor's uncle, Simon Sapsa, who died aboard a deportation train; one photograph, dated 1930, of the donor's parents, Ruhla and Sloim Iancu; one photograph, dated 1938, of the donor and a cousin; and one 1938 photograph of the donor's aunt and uncle, Marcu and Beti Iancu.
