He recounts his parents were both Holocaust survivors, each of whom had a spouse and children prior to the war who did not survive (his mother's sons were hidden then killed immediately after the war in an accident); his father's career as a physician; his religious observances; moving to Ćuprija when he was about a year old, then to Zemun; developing his interest in Judaism; participating in Jewish activities during the summer; his parents sharing their Holocaust experiences with him and his sister; his parents encouraging him and his sister to read; his rebellious nature leading to his passion for rock and roll; attending university; studying English; beginning to write; and moving to Canada with his wife and children in 1994. Mr. A. discusses his books based on his family's experiences; the impact of Judaism on his work; authors who have influenced him; transferring his Jewish identity to his children through Jewish culture; writing only in Serbian; postmodern genres; hidden links throughout all his writings; events in Yugoslavia; his multiple identities; and other topics related to religions; literature, philosophy, and history.
