Clara and Julius W. Holocaust testimony
Abstract
Videotape testimony of Clara W. and Julius W. Ms. W. was born in Crumstadt, Germany in approximately 1906. She recounts their decision to emigrate after her husband was taken to Dachau; leaving on the St. Louis with her husband, daughter, father and other relatives; not being allowed to disembark in Cuba; entering England with their family; and emigration to join her brother in the United States in 1946. Mr. W. was born in Lustadt, Germany in approximately 1897. He recalls five weeks incarceration in Dachau beginning on November 10, 1938; his release based on his leaving Germany as soon as possible; living with his wife and daughter in Mannheim; their departure from Hamburg on the St. Louis to join his sister in Cuba, having paid for entry documents; not being allowed to disembark in Cuba; his sister coming to the dock everyday; being allowed to enter England with their family; working on a farm; and their emigration to the United States in 1946.
