Gregory B. Holocaust testimony

Videotape testimony of Gregory B., who was born in Rovno, Poland (presently Rivne, Ukraine) in 1930, an identical twin. He recounts his family's move to Radziwiłłów (presently Radyvyliv) in 1933; having a governess; attending Hebrew school; Soviet occupation; his father's arrest in April 1940 (they never saw him again); deportation three days later with his mother, twin brother, older sister, and paternal grandparents to a small village in Siberia; his grandparents and sister returning to Poland prior to the German invasion of the Soviet Union (they did not survive); his mother's vain attempts to locate their father, writing letters and going from village to village; harsh conditions including hunger and poor sanitation; his mother freezing to death in winter 1946; he and his brother being sent back to Poland shortly thereafter; being cared for by agencies, including the Joint and UNRRA; being moved to France for illegal emigration to Palestine; boarding the ship Exodus in 1947; interdiction by the British; being returned to Germany; joining relatives in Israel in 1948; he and his twin enlisting in the military; serving until 1950; his brother studying in France; emigration to the United States in 1956; his brother joining him in 1957; and his brother's death in 1992. Mr. B. notes visiting Siberia in 1988 to place a monument on his mother's grave.
