Monique B. Holocaust testimony
Abstract
Videotape testimony of Monique B., who was born in Bogoria, Poland in 1935. She recalls living in Mielec where her father was a kosher slaughterer; German invasion; hiding her father during a round-up of men; fleeing with her family to Bogoria; hiding in a forest with many Jews; escaping a mass killing (her father and siblings were shot); finding her mother; assistance from Polish peasants; hiding with her mother with a Polish family; her mother's murder; being baptized; learning the catechism; being taken to a Jewish orphanage in ?o?dz? by a distant cousin in 1945; relocation of the orphanage to Fublaine and Barbizon in 1946; her uncle locating her in Barbizon; living with him and his wife in Paris; emigrating to Israel with them; returning to France in 1955; marriage; the births of her children; being contacted by her Polish family; and visiting them in 1992. Mrs. B. discusses being very frightened after the war; repressing her memories; being angry with God; suffering when her children reached the age when her experiences occurred; not sharing her experiences with anyone; always feeling alone; and recurring vivid images of her experiences.
