Anna C. Holocaust testimony
Abstract
Videotape testimony of Anna C., who was born in Aleksandro?w ?o?dzki, Poland in 1921. She recalls her family's move to Antwerp; antisemitic incidents in school; German invasion in 1940; fleeing to Dunkerque in a futile attempt to leave with British troops; returning to Antwerp; fleeing to Paris; crossing to the unoccupied zone with her sister; moving to Marseille to obtain documents to emigrate to the United States; living in Bandol; receiving exit documents; convincing the authorities to allow her brother to join them; assistance from HIAS; and emigrating to the United States in summer 1942. Mrs. C. recounts unsuccessful efforts to help friends in Europe; marriage in 1947; emigration to Israel; returning to the United States with her son; divorce and remarriage; living in both the United States and Israel; and settling permanently in Israel.
