Sol M. Holocaust testimony

Videotape testimony of Sol M., who was born in Radzano?w, Poland in 1920, one of eight children. He recalls his family's Hasidism; antisemitic harassment; German invasion in September 1939; anti-Jewish measures; ghettoization in M?awa; public hangings; forced labor; deportation to Auschwitz with a brother and two sisters in November 1942; slave labor with his brother; his brother's murder; praying on Yom Kippur; hearing rumors in July 1944 that Hitler was dead; contact with his sister; learning from her that their younger sister was dead; a death march; transport to Gross-Rosen, Buchenwald, Ohrdruf, then Crawinkel; evacuation to Buchenwald in April 1945; transport to Theresienstadt; liberation by Soviet troops in May 1945; traveling to Berlin, then ?o?dz?; reunion with his brother-in-law and sister in M?awa; traveling to Zeilsheim; emigration to the United States; marriage; and becoming a cantor. Mr. M. notes his memories are fragmentary; lack of emotion to his brother's death in Auschwitz; sharing his experiences with his son when he was seven; and a recent visit to Poland. He shows photographs.
