Margolith R. Holocaust testimony

Videotape testimony of Margolith R., who was born in Hague, Netherlands in 1919. She describes a warm and sheltered Jewish environment and growing up in a large, extended family; teaching Dutch to German children in Amsterdam beginning September 1939; living in Hilversum in 1940; German invasion; anti-Jewish laws; deportation to Westerbork in August 1941; escaping; working in a Jewish hospital in Hague; her family's deportation; hiding with assistance from her brother's non-Jewish friend; posing as a non-Jew and moving when people became suspicious; delivering arms for the underground; liberation; realizing that her family had been killed; traveling to Marseille in August 1946 to emigrate to Palestine; three months' incarceration on Cyprus; release to Palestine; participating in the Israel-Arab War; returning to the Netherlands; marriage in 1950; and emigration to the United States with her husband in August 1955. Mrs. R. discusses a recent trip to Holland and sharing her experiences with her daughter. She lists family members who perished in the Holocaust and shows photographs.
