Mr. P. vividly describes conditions in Auschwitz; learning about the gas chambers and that his family had perished there; agonizing appells; transfer with his brothers to Buchenwald, Zeitz, and back to Buchenwald; group prayers; factory work in Schlieben; starvation, beatings and humiliation; transfer to Flossenbu?rg; assistance from a Jewish kapo; transfer to Terezi?n; liberation by Soviet troops; hospitalization; reunion with his brothers; returning to Beclean; moving to Hungary, then to a displaced persons camp in Ulm; and emigration to the United States. He tells of his draft into the United States army; serving as a chaplain; dreams about his youngest brother, whose death he blames himself; and the importance of his frequent school visits to teach about the Holocaust.
