Acquisition

Forms part of the Claims Conference International Holocaust Documentation Archive at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. This archive consists of documentation whose reproduction and/or acquisition was made possible with funding from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.

Source of acquisition is the Archiwum Państwowe w Częstochowie, Poland, Sygn. 401. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum received the filmed collection via the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum International Archival Programs Division in 2014.

Scope and Content

This collection contains selected files of the District Liquidation Office in Częstochowa concerning ownership of property in the region of Częstochowa. Records relate to Jewish and German abandoned or deserted property in the post-war period (documents of the so-called "entering into possession," “wprowadzenia w posiadanie”). Included are lists of estates, along with their descriptions, tenancy agreements, applications for purchase or lease of Jewish estates, monthly reports, correspondence, as well as the administrator’s files of those estates.

System of Arrangement

The system of arrangement of the source repository has been preserved on the microfilm reels. Arranged in two series: 1. Reports on abandoned properties. 1945-1947. Organized alphabetically by names of particular communes; 2. Registers of properties, 1947-1950.
