Acquisition

Forms part of the Claims Conference International Holocaust Documentation Archive at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. This archive consists of documentation whose reproduction and/or acquisition was made possible with funding from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.

Source of acquisition is the Archiwum Państwowe w Częstochowie, Poland, Sygn. 2. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum received the filmed collection via the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum International Archival Programs Division in 2014.

Scope and Content

Contains situation reports, correspondence, and reports relating to the Kielce pogrom of July 4, 1946, as well as attempts to organize anti-Jewish riots in Częstochowa where two persons were shot. The majority of materials includes situation reports, materials of the Jewish Committee of 1945, records relating to the establishment of the Religious (Mosaic) Association, lists of Polish and Jewish children in orphanages (1940-1947), correspondence related to mass graves and war crimes and restitution of estate property and enterprises.

The system of arrangement of the source repository has been preserved in digital images. Arranged in four series: 1. Situation reports, correspondence and Jewish organizations, 1945-1951; 2. Lists of Polish and Jewish children in orphanages, 1940-1947; 3. Correspondence related to mass graves and war crimes in Częstochowa, 1947-1948; 3. Records related to restitution of estate property and enterprise, 1945-1948.
