Biographical History

Lloyed M. Adler (1921-2018) was born November 1, 1921 in Newark, NJ to Max and Jean Adler, immigrants from Austria-Hungary. He graduated from West Side High School in 1939 and Montclair State Teachers College in 1943. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Rose Berger in 1948, and they had three children. He worked for almost 50 years as a social studies teacher and guidance counselor in Newark.

Scope and Content

Photographic prints: black and white images which document the Nordhausen concentration camp after liberation; includes images of victims, reburial and forced confrontation of atrocities; some American soldiers visible in background of photos; inscribed on verso by Sgt. Lloyd Adler; dated April 1945.
