Biographical History
Genia Ryczke died in Treblinka in 1942. Benno Benjamin Ryczke died during a death march from Mauthausen concentration camp in April 1945. After the war, Moritz Ryczke immigrated first to the United States in 1949 and then to Israel in 1972 where he lived until his death in 1979. Mira Ryczke and Max Kimmelman both returned to Germany after the war where they met in 1946 and immigrated to the United States two years later. Max died in 1990. Natan Laznowski returned first to Germany and immigrated to the United States in 1951 where he lived until his death in 1972.
Archival History
The handkerchief was donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 1991 by Mira Ryczke Kimmelman, a family friend of Cicilie Imre.
