Acquisition

Source of acquisition is the Yad Vashem, Israel. Original records are located at the Veszperémi Érseki és Főkáplalani Levéltar (Archives of Archbishop of Veszprém, Hungary). The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received this collection via the United States Holocaust Museum International Archives Project in 2008.

Scope and Content

Primarily records of individuals seeking to convert to Catholicism, related correspondence among Church authorities, documentation of conversion, documents of name changes. Postwar administrative and political documents mainly related to adaptation to the new government and circumstances, for instance defending priests and defending church property.
