Donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2010 by Becalel Steinberg.

Scope and Content

Photographs and documents illustrating the experiences of Magda Grünspan and Chajem Steinberg before, during, and after the Holocaust. Includes pre-war images of Chajem and his extended family in Kerecky, Czechoslovakia [present-day Ukraine] as well as Magda in pre-war Berehovo, Czechoslovakia [present-day Ukraine]. Also included are numerous postwar photographs of Chajem and Magda, who married in the displaced persons camp Gabersee in Germany, and their extended family who survived, including Magda’s mother, Tini, who, with Magda, had survived the Auschwitz-Birkenau, Gelsenkirchen and Sömmerda slave labor camps.
