Biographical History

Eugenia Halbreicht (née Sperber) is a survivor of Auschwitz. She testified in a Polish court in Krakow for th Committee Examining Crimes Perpetrated by Hitler.

Acquisition

Eugenia Halbreich donated her collection to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 1993.

Scope and Content

The collection consists of copies of a typescript memoir in English and Polish, circa 1945, entitled "It only works three times"; a photocopy of a poem titled "Birkenau" with translation; a photocopy of a news review from an unknown publication about Eugenia Halbreich's memoir; a poem titled "It hurts"; one photograph, and one photocopy of a photograph of Henryk Sperber, Eugenia Halbreich's brother; and a list of decorations awarded to Polish resistance fighters after the war by President Boleslaw Bierut.
