United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Collection, Gift of Robert Steinke

The collection was donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2004 by Robert Steinke.

Scope and Content

The collection consists of 35 photographs taken at the liberation of concentration camps in 1945. Twenty of the photographs have been attributed to Margaret Bourke-White, who was on assignment for "Life" magazine.
